And you thought those all those new handsets sitting just over the mobile-horizon with glorious VGA and WVGA resolution displays were impressive.

Casio’s busting up the cellphone display market with their newest creation – a deceptive little 2-inch LCD display with a whopping 960 x 540 pixel count! That’s right, with a resolution rivaling some sub-notebooks and completely blowing WVGA handsets out of the water, the new 2-inch Casio displays packs in an incredible number of pixels into that tiny footprint thanks to a bit of technology that Casio likes to call a Hyper Amorphous Silicon TFT (HAST) LCD.

Casio hasn’t announced their new display, but those Japan’s mobile market is sure to get first crack at it when it does go live.
