HSBC Offers BlackBerry Optimized Banking Service to UK Customers

Remember back in August when HSBC was thinking of buying 200,000 iPhones for use by their staff? I’ve heard very little on that since, but it looks like they’re moving forward with a cool mobile site optimized for the BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) in the UK.
The mobile service is available at www.m.hsbc.co.uk and is optimized for BlackBerry 8xxx devices. Simply login with the same username and password you use on the HSBC internet banking service, and you’re in. You can use it to check real-time balances and transactions over the last seven days on all sterling accounts. You can also check balances only on foreign currency accounts. Additionally, you can get balances on business and commercial credit cards with seven days worth of transactions per cardholder.
Regarding this new service, the head of UK Commercial Banking commented:
“We understand that our business customers need to be able to manage their money on the go, and we aim to provide them with the best technology to make this possible”.
Kudos to HSBC to making this service available to Berry users in the UK. Hopefully no ‘kinks’ are left to be worked out, and it works as it should.
