It seems like everything is going “green” these days. From cars to electronics, eco-friendly is the way to go. Now, the eco-conscious movement has crossed over to the iPhone with a new iPhone application that fights deforestation in 12 countries around the world.

“A Real Tree” is a new iPhone app, available now in the iPhone AppStore, that promises to plant a real tree for every purchase of the $0.99 app. mokugift, the people behind the iPhone application, works with organizations around the world and provides education and materials to local communities. The aim is to teach these communities how to “plant trees while avoiding toxic pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.”

The application itself is simple. “A Real Tree” displays a simple tree, and invites users to figure out how to make the bird fly out of the tree or make the flowers blow in the wind. The real draw here is the eco-benefit that each app purchase provides.
