Lenovo’s Android-Powered ‘OPhone’ Makes the T-Mobile G1 Look Like Steaming Garbage

Lenovo (OTCPK: LNVGY) is currently in a testing phase with a brand-new Android-powered headset. Honest… Well, that’s the rumor at least. The new device, which makes the current T-Mo (er, HTC) G1 phone look like a piece of garbage will be among the first Android offerings for China Mobile (NYSE: CHL).
The device is codenamed ‘OPhone’, and the handset will be one of the first to be based on China Mobile’s Open Mobile System (OMS)… Which in short means it will run Android and support TD SCDMA (China Mobile’s 3G standard).
Unfortunately, as to be expected, this sexy new device from Lenovo probably won’t hit North American shores for a long time coming. No word on any potential US or Canadian launch, but our lucky buds over in China should be able to get their mittens on this one fairly soon.
Note to my Chinese friends: Please send me some pictures and reviews of this bad-boy when it becomes available!? Please?
