Android App Frees G1 Memory by Wiping Absolutely Everything Useful

MemoryUp recently got pulled from the Android Market for supposedly wiping address books and memory cards of many who had shelled out $15 for the Pro version. According to some poking arund by community coders, even when the app doesn’t totally bork your G1, it does a poor job of clearing memory anyway. This may be the unfortunate reality of Android’s open source philosophy – the Market could continue to host faulty or poorly-done applications because everyone has the power to write one. User reviews can be faked, and heavy policing is not only impractical, but counter Android’s vision. Has anyone had the misfortune of trying out MemoryUp? Feel free to comment with your horror stories.
The app market is at this point very unreliable. You dont know what
you will get while downloading these apps. Many are download at your
own risk. Right now we have lots of apps….much in quantity but poor
in quality. its a waste of time and users will only wait for apps to
come out from either google themselves or from some other reliable
source.
maybe an open market isnt good afterall? whats the point when its all
garbage.
Why shop at a garbage can? Hopefully google will get on the ball
and provide some quality apps, but then again quality means space
and space is something that G1 users dont have much of. so i have no
clue how this is going to work for us.
My brother has an iphone and that is one thing he continues to make
fun of. that G1 isnt capable of downloading serious stuff. He told me
he has apps that take up more than 20 mb’s. i dont even have 20 mbs of
space. He got an EA game-the Sims. a good game but how do we expect to
have something of that quality without affording the space.
just dont know how this is gonna work.
But thank god i didnt down load that memoryup app..i looked at it a
few times but never caught my eye good enough for me to download.
Abdul, just ask your brother how long has the iPhone been out and how long has the G1 been out? Also ask your brother if he can upgrade his flash card to a 32GB. There are work arounds to have your apps installed onto your SD card. Again, Android OS is still new and its pretty much in beta, give it time.
The market is a peice of crap right now with people abusing it and such. If someone would patrol the market things would get alot better. My buddy once told me he installed an app and didnt like it at all, he reported that it asked for his credit card info, next day the app was pulled. All it takes is a rumor I guess and it will be pulled.
