bberry_connect_logo_iWe’re still waiting for BlackBerry Connect mosey on out the door and make way for the BlackBerry Application Suite, but maybe the end isn’t quite as near as we though. Connect, the original application which provided BlackBerry services to Windows Mobile devices, has been updated to version 4.0 for the HTC TyTN II, Touch Diamond, Touch Pro, Touch HD, and includes a new Desktop Tool for easier syncing. I believe S60 already had a similar Desktop Tool, but don’t think Windows Mobile had one before today. If you’re rocking BlackBerry Connect already, go ahead and start downloading, and if not, you can check out some of BlackBerry Connect’s features here

In exploring RIM’s platform, he has learned what enterprises are looking for in mobility as well as what makes the innocuous BlackBerry so appealing to them. Recently Simon’s been covering RIM’s gradual move into an already-crowded consumer market, and the impact of burgeoning challengers, such as the iPhone, as well as long-time leaders, like Nokia, on BlackBerry’s advancement. With plenty of content under his belt, Simon will be branching off a bit to see what other smartphone manufacturers are working on while still using BlackBerry as a barometer.
