Lenovo has announced new laptop card that communicates with your BlackBerry via Bluetooth to sync up e-mail, ensuring you can still read and send full-bodied e-mails when you’re outside of a Wi-Fi zone. It’s a little curious, since Bluetooth internet tethering really isn’t that complicated, and certainly doesn’t necessitate a new piece of hardware. Constant Connect is kind of neat in the way that it can still keep that sync with your laptop going even after you put it into sleep mode.
Some think mobiles should be replacing laptops, but I can imagine a few situations where you want to send files that are on your laptop that might not be worth the hassle of transferring to your BlackBerry and then sending. And let’s face it, writing an e-mail on your laptop will always be more comfortable than thumbing one out on your phone. Lenovo and Research in Motion are a good match for one another, considering their heavy reliance on enterprise customers – hopefully we can see more fruits from their relationship in the future. Constant Connect will be available for the second quarter in the U.S., and “later” this year elsewhere.
