fish-nokia-cellphoneMan loses cellphone in water. Big fish eats his cellphone (we know, just keep reading). Fisherman catches said thieving fish. Man gets cellphone back!

We don’t know how the fish even managed to get its slimy mouth around a Nokia cellphone (we’re no fish experts), or why a fish would even find a mobile phone appetizing. What we do know is that UK paper, the Sun, is reporting that Andrew Cheatle lost his cellphone near the water, presumably while playing with his dog. Says the 45-year old Cheatle, “I was messing about with my dog and my phone must have fallen out and been swept out in the swell.”

After coming to terms with his loss, Cheatle set about finding a replacement cellphone. But, while shopping for a new mobile phone with his girlfriend, they get a call from his cellphone. Strangely enough, fisherman Glen Kerley was calling using the SIM card from the cellphone that he had found in the belly of a 25-pound, 4-foot long cod. According to Kerley, “Cod are greedy fish — they’ll eat anything. They have big heads and big mouths.”

Kerley returned the handset back to Cheatle, who dried it out, popped the SIM back in, and found that the mobile phone still worked (kind of). “It was working but it kept playing up so I had to get the circuit board changed in the end. But now it’s fine. I know it sounds a fishy tale but it is 100 per cent true.”

A fishy tale indeed.

I once had a fish eat my PSP. I got it back. It was turned on inside the fish’s mouth too. I ate that dish, he got what he deserved.
