att-logoClassify this one as rumor and speculation only please…But BGR has blogged about some new details they’ve received on a ‘Phone Trade-in’ program that AT&T is working on. The program would launch in the summer, probably around June. Here are the details as BGR has received them so far:

The phone being traded in in can’t be more than two years old and must be in fair shape.

The new phone will not have any subsidies applied to it, so basically whatever your trade-in covers will be your “savings”.

Trade-ins will be valued from $50 to $200.

Really interesting and makes a lot of sense if you ask me, especially considering the tough economic situation in the U.S. and worldwide. That, and a trade-in program should help those unfortunate customers that bought a device, only to find that a next-gen device from the same manufacturer is coming out the very next week. Trade-in and trade-up!

Stay tuned for more on this one. More details to credit or debunk this one are surely coming.
