Italy has hopped on the Android bus thanks to the folks at TIM. The carrier now has the HTC Dream (aka the G1) in stock and ready to go. Interestingly enough, there are 2 mighty good options for picking up the device in Italy. TIM will let you get one for FREE, or, they will let you run a prepaid option for €429 (just over $580 USD)… and from there you pay-as-you-go. At the moment the HTC Dream is only available in Black from TIM.

I’m diggin’ the prepaid option, and heck, I’m diggin’ the free device with contract option as well. Speaking from experience up here in Canada, our plans are so incredibly expensive, you’d certainly hope that carriers are taking note of this shift… They’re making enough money on the plans themselves, might be time to start giving out higher-end devices for free on longer-term contracts.
