skype-iphoneAs expected, Skype has unveiled their iPhone and BlackBerry apps at CTIA Wireless yesterday (Tuesday). The app is available right now for free via the App Store for US iPhone/AT&T subscribers (sorry Canada… not sure about the UK and other parts of the world, but I assume Skype is not available in other parts of the world either… Bummer!). The App Store seems to have a habit of launching new and highly anticipated apps within the US only. A bit of a pet peeve of mine (being in Canada and all). Rest assured that Skype will be coming to a more international audience in the near future.

The BlackBerry version of Skype was unveiled as well, however as Simon reported earlier the app will not become available until May for the Bold and Curve series. More versions for other BlackBerry models will follow suit shortly thereafter.

We may find out more details on Skype for BlackBerry with an eagerly anticipated ‘BlackBerry App World‘ announcement that is forthcoming at CTIA. Stay tuned for more coverage on this one from Simon and Will on the floor at CTIA in sunny Las Vegas.
