Just when you thought iPhone OS 3.0 had been sufficiently plumbed for secrets, another has popped up. Some APIs surrounding something called Jibbler seem to suggest that the next operating system upgrade will include both voice recognition and text read-back capabilities (kind of like with Apple (NSDQ: AAPL)’s latest iPod Shuffle). Of course, none of this was mentioned in the announcement, but the functionality would be great for voice-dialling, at very least. If Vlingo is any indication, there’s a lot you can do with voice recognition and having it built right into the OS could open up some doors. For now, there’s no word on when or if we’ll see this is an official SDK, or maybe even one of those numerous new iPhones on the way, but we’ll be keeping our eyes ears peeled.
