China Unicom has unveiled the “WO” brand, which the company will use to market its 3G offering. Three design options of the brand have been prepared, each targeting different user groups in the fields of business, home and vogue.
Starting from May 17th, China Unicom will begin trials in the initial 55 cities with 3G networks established, and as soon as the network optimization completes, public bidding and network construction for the second batch of cities will begin. It is also expected that by September of this year, the carrier’s promotion of 3G services will enter full swing.
As for China Unicom’s competitors, other operators in the country have also unveiled their 3G brands – China Telecom has “e-surfing” (Tian Yi), and China Mobile – G3.
