Mobile Money SummitAnd the third conference I’ll attend while in Barcelona is the Mobile Money Summit. It’s the second time the event is organized, and it will bring together all interested stakeholders — including financial services institutions, mobile operators, development organizations and solutions vendors, as well as regulatory and policy makers.

The program is designed to provide a “comprehensive demonstration of the addressable markets, a showcase for new solutions, and a forum for sharing key success factors and lessons learned from around the world.” As a result, it is expected that the event stimulates greater understanding and collaboration between all parties globally, regionally and locally.

Among the co-organizers, there’s CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor), IFC (International Finance Corporation) and British Department for International Development. Platinum sponsor is VISA.

As for the speakers, the list includes people from entities such as Visa, Vodafone, PayPal, The World Bank, GSMA, Obopay, and Orange.

I’ll stop here. You can see the full agenda from this page. And again, if you find this interesting, feel free to register while on the site. ;)

About The Author

Dusan Belic

Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also loves to experiment with the latest web and mobile 2.0 services. The idea of accessing and managing your information from any device no matter where you are simply amazes him. Whether it's an online to-do list, note taking service or a video sharing social network, he's there to try it out. He admits though, he's still searching for the ultimate web-based organizational tool, which "sings" perfectly with the mobile PIM application. Dusan used to run SymbianWatch.com which later became part of IntoMobile. He lives in Serbia, South-East Europe, from where he edits the site on a daily basis.
