samsung-mobile-innovatorSamsung is apparently embracing the Windows Mobile development community with a new virtual device laboratory, appropriately dubbed Lab.dev, through the company’s Samsung Mobile Innovator development portal. Lab.dev’s goal is to give Windows Mobile developers a virtual testing environment where they can install and test WinMo apps on any Windows Mobile-powered Samsung smartphone – all over a web connection. All testing is done on physical Samsung smartphones, which can be reserved for “your own unique use during specified time slots.” Best of all, it’s free!

The Lab.dev initiative will allow WinMo developers to more quickly and conveniently test their latest wares, without having to get their hands on pricey physical hardware. Developers can choose to test on 11 different Windows Mobile smartphones from Samsung. Windows Mobile devs looking to take advantage of Lab.dev will need to have a Samsung Mobile Innovator user account, a JavaScript-compatible web browser, Java Web Start and, of course, access to the web through ports 80 and 1200.

If you meet the above criteria, head on over to Samsung Mobile Innovator and give the Lab.dev a spin!
