We’ve seen the pictures and videos of the BlackBerry Gemini (now known as the Curve 8520), but the only release date info so far has been from Wal-Mart. Although alternative points of sale like Wal-Mart and Best Buy tend to get handsets very close to the retail stores, it’s good to have the date doubly confirmed with official T-Mobile stores. If you haven’t heard, the newest in the BlackBerry Curve family will be the first handset to ditch the trackball in favour of a touch-sensitive trackpad, and having played a bit with one myself, it’s a solid evolution. Style aside, the specs aren’t mind-blowing (no flash on the camera, same screen resolution as the original Curve, EDGE only…), but the upcoming BlackBerry Onyx 9020 is set to replace the Bold and use the same input – if you like the idea, but are looking for something with a bit more horsepower, it’s probably worth holding out.
