Half of HTC Handsets in 2010 to be Android?

HTC, well-known as being Windows Mobile’s sugar-daddy, is apparently going to be cranking up its Android hardware production in 2010 – over 50% of HTC handsets shipped in 2010 will be running Google (NSDQ: GOOG)’s operating system, tipsters say. We’ve already seen hints of the Click, and lots of other manufacturers are gearing up for a busy year with Androd – it makes perfect that HTC keep the pace they’ve set for competitors. However, this rumour is a little fishy since HTC has gone on record pledging their continued support and prioritization of Windows Mobile; even if the rumour doesn’t hold true, the Hero is clearly the first in a long line of Android awesomeness from HTC.
A second, less exciting rumour from the same source is that HTC will be breaking into the lower-end handset market using the BREW platform and Sense UI.
