For those looking for a little extra juice out of their mobile GMail, a new plug-in for BlackBerry was released this weekend that adds a few welcome features.

  • Add and remove labels and stars on email messages
  • Report spam email messages
  • Perform local and remote searches
  • Archive email messages
  • View related email messages as a single conversation (threaded view)

There are a few caveats, however – you need to be running on operating system 4.5 and up (which is just about everything since the BlackBerry 8800), and read/unread, labels and stars synchronization is one-way (BlackBerry-to-service), so the changes you make on the web UI might not carry over. Hit up blackberry.com/gmail on your device to get started, just keep in mind that you may have to remove and add your GMail account to your BIS account again to ensure IMAP synchronization is enabled.
