The U.S. International Trade Commission is taking a close look at flash memory made by Samsung and used in popular handsets like the iPhone and BlackBerry after BTG International claimed patent infringement. The memory chips in question are used in a wide variety of gadgets, including USB sticks, camcorders and MP3 players. These kind of investigations usually come with a lot of talk about limiting imports and stopping the sale of products containing the offending technology, but the complaints usually get settled either by defence or licensing before end users take the brunt of any legal retaliation.
