Rogers-Holideal

Rogers’ star holiday lineup, the white BlackBerry Bold 9000, the LG Eve, Sony Ericsson X1, HTC Magic, and Nokia N86, have been on sale for under a hundred bucks the last month or so, but just in time for the final push, they’ve knocked them all down to $0.99 on contract (yep, pretty much free). Although it might look like this was a knee-jerk reaction to the threat of wind, who sells handsets for a relatively high price, this is in line with their aggressive sub-$100 strategy that was likely built more to combat telus and Bell, who are busy pimping out newer (and pricier) HSPA handsets. No matter which way you cut it, these are all great deals, just be prepared for sign away another three years. Check out the handsets and the Bluetooth they’re chipping in for free over here.

Simon Sage’s education largely surrounded writing, technology and online community, leading him to begin his blogging career at www.BlackBerryCool.com and to quickly discover a vibrant and active community surrounding BlackBerry and mobile technology. In exploring RIM’s platform, he has learned what enterprises are looking for in mobility as well as what makes the innocuous BlackBerry so appealing to them. Recently Simon’s been covering RIM’s gradual move into an already-crowded consumer market, and the impact of burgeoning challengers, such as the iPhone, as well as long-time leaders, like Nokia, on BlackBerry’s advancement. With plenty of content under his belt, Simon will be branching off a bit to see what other smartphone manufacturers are working on while still using BlackBerry as a barometer.
