Re turns your iPhone/iPod Touch into a universal remote

I’m a big universal remote fan, and even more, I like the idea of having a smartphone performing its function. However, an infra-red port is required for that to work, hence in case of an iPhone or iPod Touch, you need a special accessory which will take care of communication between your beloved gadget and AV equipment. Enter Re, the device made by the company called New Kinetix, that you connect to your iGadget to turn it into a universal remote.

I’m not sure about the convenience Re offers as it makes iPhone/iPod Touch much bigger. On the other hand, it promises to sing along virtually all AV hardware, and expandable software ensures even the latest (or some rare) AV models can work with Re. It would be much easier if Apple included an infra-red port and make this a software thing, only. There’s an idea for iPhone 4G(S). ;)
