If there’s one thing better than beating the half-rotten brains out of a zombie, it’s doing it on your phone, whereever you happen to be. An officially licensed Dawn of the Dead game is now available for iPhone, allowing you to pick between nurse, police officer and salesman characters (each with different speed, attack, and shooting ratings), use and discover a variety of melee and ranged weapons against relentless hordes of the undead across 5 levels (accessible in either story or challenge mode). The perspective is top-down, but all of the models are rendered in 3D for what looks like a good old-fashioned action game. You can grab it in the iTunes App Store for $1.99, more info at Bytemark Games here. The reviews are poo-pooing the controls a fair bit, so be warned.

In exploring RIM’s platform, he has learned what enterprises are looking for in mobility as well as what makes the innocuous BlackBerry so appealing to them. Recently Simon’s been covering RIM’s gradual move into an already-crowded consumer market, and the impact of burgeoning challengers, such as the iPhone, as well as long-time leaders, like Nokia, on BlackBerry’s advancement. With plenty of content under his belt, Simon will be branching off a bit to see what other smartphone manufacturers are working on while still using BlackBerry as a barometer.
