TripIt has been available for Android since November, and iPhone for almost a year now, but for those who have been waiting, it’s finally coming to BlackBerry. TripIt basically keeps your travel plans all in order across a number of different applications – generally, I see notifications for it through LinkedIn, but it hooks into Facebook, Windows Live, Microsoft Exchange, and other services. Specifically for BlackBerry, TripIt offers tight integration with the native calendar, flight status checking, directions, phone numbers (with direct click-to-call), and flight alerts and alternate routing for the premium Pro version. Even for the ability to easily make a consolidated master itinerary alone makes stuff like this worthwhile. Typically, WorldMate Live handles most of my travel demands on BlackBerry, and it still feels like it offers a bit more than TripIt, but options and competition are always a good thing. Head over to m.tripit.com/uhp/blackberry on your device’s browser to download the app for free.

Simon Sage’s education largely surrounded writing, technology and online community, leading him to begin his blogging career at www.BlackBerryCool.com and to quickly discover a vibrant and active community surrounding BlackBerry and mobile technology. In exploring RIM’s platform, he has learned what enterprises are looking for in mobility as well as what makes the innocuous BlackBerry so appealing to them. Recently Simon’s been covering RIM’s gradual move into an already-crowded consumer market, and the impact of burgeoning challengers, such as the iPhone, as well as long-time leaders, like Nokia, on BlackBerry’s advancement. With plenty of content under his belt, Simon will be branching off a bit to see what other smartphone manufacturers are working on while still using BlackBerry as a barometer.
