The WordPress blogging client for BlackBerry has been out since the summer as a beta, and after a few updates, is now ready for primetime. If you’re new to blogging, WordPress is the de facto standard for publishing your own serialized content online – heck, it’s what we use here to make IntoMobile happen. You can either sign up with the WordPress-hosted service, or download the open source software, and install it on your own server. Take a trip down WordPress lane for a closer look.

All of the messiness of the BlackBerry betatude have been tidied up with stability and speed improvements, but there are a few new features as well, mostly on the video front: sharing videos recorded on the BlackBerry (stored either on the device memory or SD card, even in older 3GP and 3G2 formats), and can even embed them in your blog posts in HD using video press. Comment moderation is a little more streamlined, but it’s best to download it for yourself to see what’s up.

French, Italian and Indonesian language support is included; as for devices, anyone with an 8700, Pearl, Bold, Storm, Tour, or Curve should be alright. You can connect over BIS too, if you’re worried about that. Ready to get your your blog on? Find the WordPress for BlackBerry in the App World.

P.S: Yeah, the headline made me gag a little bit too. The alternative was “WordPress for BlackBerry Beta Gestation Complete, Emerges Hungry 1.0 Larva”.

Simon Sage’s education largely surrounded writing, technology and online community, leading him to begin his blogging career at www.BlackBerryCool.com and to quickly discover a vibrant and active community surrounding BlackBerry and mobile technology. In exploring RIM’s platform, he has learned what enterprises are looking for in mobility as well as what makes the innocuous BlackBerry so appealing to them. Recently Simon’s been covering RIM’s gradual move into an already-crowded consumer market, and the impact of burgeoning challengers, such as the iPhone, as well as long-time leaders, like Nokia, on BlackBerry’s advancement. With plenty of content under his belt, Simon will be branching off a bit to see what other smartphone manufacturers are working on while still using BlackBerry as a barometer. At IntoMobile, you can count on his posts being even-handed, well-informed and thought-out.
