Axel Technologies has announced its Fuugo product, which is aiming to ‘redefine television by greatly simplifying the way people find video and TV content’. Where will you find Fuugo? Well, Axel has indicated that FuugoTM is optimized for a range of mobile and portable devices, such as on the Intel Atom processor based netbooks and smartphones.

But what is Fuugo? Apparently it’s the first TV application for personalizing a content stream by blending content choices from broadcast, mobile, and Internet TV. It utilizes social media, recommendations, user metrics and various content sources for presentation of TV and video programs that match your favourites, your interests, and what your social network likes.

“Social media, online TV and video services have thrown doubt on traditional TV usage. The challenge, however, is the usability and user experience: how to find the relevant content from the chaos of content sources, applications and devices,” notes Petri Kalske, CEO of Axel Technologies. “We developed FuugoT to simplify the way users find the programs they want without having to think about where they are coming from. Fuugo intelligently presents programming based on individual tastes and interests making it the personal TV solution for today’s demanding user.”

I have to say I’m not ultra-clear at this instant how this TV app is going to go about converging all these different information streams, but it should be fascinating finding out! Stay tuned for more info soon!
