
Sonim has launched its first 3G phone in Barcelona – XP2 Spirit. The new device keeps the legendary toughness and ruggedness while also boasting a fresh new look.
When it comes to Sonim devices there are features and… features. First the tech part:
- 3-megapixel camera with LED flash
- 2-inch screen, which is protected by 1.5mm of scratch resistant Gorilla Glass
- Media player, email client and some other Java apps
- FM radio
- microSD memory card slot (up to 8GB)
As for the “other part” of features, here’s just how tough the Sonim XP2 Spirit is:
- IP-67/MIL-810G certified; protected against rain, fog and salt air
- Submersible to 1 metre for 30 minutes in water
- Non porous casing which blocks entry of micro-particles
- Octagonal-shaped shell withstands 2m drops onto concrete
- Built to withstand random vibrations up to 4G
- Works in environments with temperature ranging from -20C to +55C
- Dual injected shell (hardened rubber, fiberglass & nylon) and magnesium core
- Keypad buttons tested to 850,000 pushes
- Speakers protected by a GORE-TEX cover
