RIM Webinar Provides Brief Glimpse into OS 6.0?

Remember that Super App webinar I told you about a little while back? Well, the webinar has gone down, and whether this was on purpose or by accident, some potential ‘looks’ at OS 6.0 may have been dropped. Of course, there’s no way of knowing at this point what we’re looking at for sure, but some of the presentation slides seemed to show off a MUCH different looking OS in comparison to what we’re used to seeing. Check out the capture above. Note what appears to be widget/card integration at the bottom of the screen…Plus home screen updates for SMS, Calls and Calendar. This looks promising.

Keep in mind however the whole point of the webinar was ‘Super Apps’, so RIM could (and probably was) just showing off what a ‘Super App’ may look like in their eyes. Built-in location awareness, availability awareness, real-time updating of events as they happen, yeah, I get it RIM. Super App!

Whether this is simply a mockup of a ‘Super App‘ or a glimpse into some 6.0 goodness, one can’t deny the frustrations many feel with the current BlackBerry OS. If nothing else, this provides (for some, perhaps) a glimmer of hope and a tiny look-see into what RIM MAY have in store for us. What do you think? Is this the real deal? Or just ‘Super App’ window dressing?
