Again we have an example of a company making an iPhone game as part of its marketing activities. The company is Telect, which is the “service connectivity and power solutions provider for the global communications industry,” and the game is called Telecom Tycoon.

As you can guess, Telecom Tycoon sees you building mobile networks to grow your business. You do that by deploying cell towers, while at the same time watching out for competitors. In other words, in order to win, you must secure key places for your towers before a competitor does.

However, I wouldn’t expect the full “Tycoon” experience. After all, we’re talking about a free game that is not released by a major game publisher.

And if you’re into all those “Tycoon” games, here are some other titles: Trump Tycoon (where you fight for the real estate market), Gas Tycoon (guess?), Lemonade Tycoon and Railroad Tycoon.

Finally, in addition to the iPhone version, Telect (or their ad agency) is working to port the game to the other platforms.
