Yowza!! — the free location-based mobile coupon application/service that comes from actor Greg Grunberg whom you may know as Heroes’ mind reader Matt Parkman — is adding Austin, Texas to the list of supported cities. Among the local businesses included in the update are the most popular places to eat and drink such as Eddie V’s Restaurant, Frank, Max’s Wine Dive, Odd Duck Restaurant, Roaring Fork and Saxon Pub; as well as clothing stores Secret Oktober and Gallery D, indie record store Waterloo Records and the Alamo Drafthouse movie theatre.

In addition to adding a new city, Yowza!! also announced they’re out with the version 2.2. The main new thing of this release is support for custom, manually entered location. Apparently, users will need this feature when travelling and their iPhone’s location capabilities are turned off. In this case, they can manually enter a ZIP code.

Now that I’m thinking, this could be useful for iPod Touch users only, as there are really no reasons to turn off location-based services for the U.S. residents who just happen to be in the other (again) U.S. city — except maybe to save some battery life.

Anyway, you’ve probably already grabbed the updated version. If you still haven’t, follow the link below.
