Are you in Seattle? Are you an AT&T user? Well, you may have noticed that your wireless service through everyone’s favorite carrier has been spotty to non-existent today. We’re seeing reports of network outages in the Seattle area today, requiring phone reboots for some and leaving others without service altogether.

The service disruption is reportedly affecting voice calls, but has apparently been coming back online for some people over the past hour or so. There are reports of people rebooting their mobile phone and getting service restored, so you may want to hit the ‘ole power button on your handset and give it a nice clean restart.

TechFlash says their iPhone in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle is out of commission. Are you experiencing any problems? If so, let us know so that we can get a handle on the extent of the problems out there in the land of coffee and rain.

[Update]
We just got a message from AT&T PR, confirming that there were 3G voice issues this morning that affected some Seattle-area customers. The issues should be resolved by now, and all AT&T voice services in Seattle should be restored. “We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers,” said AT&T.

In Salt Lake City we are having a 3G outage. The EDGE network says it’s working, though it seems very spotty. Most don’t have actual phone service, only data service.

  • jn

The 3g network seems nonfunctional in the SLC Utah area as well.

  • jn

Whoops, missed the first comment. I have phone service and edge, but my phone and data converage disappear when I turn on 3g.

  • Raleigh

I had problems this morning myself. It’s important to remember that on iPhone 3G and 3Gs phones you can turn off 3G and force the phone to EDGE. This allowed me to make calls, send/receive texts and get data even if it was slower.

AT&T is working hard to resolve the issue at this time, all 3G voice services have been restored, some users may experience degraded 3G data services. All services including SMS should be working at this time.

  • RaleighNC

My AT&T crackberry has only had GSM service since 11am today. No Edge service at all in the Raleigh/Durham area.

AT&T PR has given you inaccurate information. As of 1:16 pm, Seattle time, the outage in 206 area code (Seattle) continues. Outgoing calls are not going through and callers to these numbers are being told by a recording to ‘try again later’.

The 3G is still down and out at several SLC Locations. Edge is on/off and spotty at best in the SLC Area. We are having issues with company phones and monitoring we leverage with ATT.

I guess we need Sprint…. LMAO

I am in Seattle, currently located in Fremont. I starting having problems early this morning and all of my calls ended up as ‘Call Failed’. It worked for a while in the middle of the day (after a restart) but I am now having problems with the phone again and receiving the same error. My wife’s phone is experiencing the same exact issue. This sucks.

There seems to be peripheral issues on the AT&T network on the east side of the state (Spokane area and Moses Lake area) also. I have found that I have no service whatsoever several times today. How about disabling 3G until it’s fixed?

Issues also in the Salt Lake City Area since early this morning….Failed Calls left and right. Calls not ringing through and going right to voice mail. Called AT&T and they claim the issue is fixed but it may take more thatn 24 hours to come completly back up. Had AT&T now for 5 weeks and have dropped more calls since then then I did the entire two years that I was with Verizon…..Had to have the Iphone….LMAO

No bars in Kirkland WA = and I dont mean places to drink – plenty of those. IPhone- SMS works sometimes- voice calls fail 100% of the times I have tried. I used to be an AT&T apologist – fading fast.

Since yesterday evening here in Fort Worth phone service has been hit and miss. None at all last night. Lots of dropped calls today. When I called 611 the recording said that the wait would be very long. Data service does not seem to be affected though. This is rediculous.

  • SteveF

Was not able to make outbound calls from my iPhone in NJ for a couple of hours yesterday. Other AT&T customers were reporting similar issues

  • BB

No data service working on 3G in Silver Springs MD since about noon today.

  • BB

…Edge data doesn’t seem to be working either…

  • Pissed

I am in Houston and I’m suppose to have a phone interview at 3:00PM Central time and the interviewer sent me an email saying that he tried 4 times and I didn’t pick up. But I was holding my phone waiting for the call and I got no incoming calls whatsoever. This outage might have just cost me a job!!!

  • Cris

There apparently was an outage in the Long Island, New York area last night. Any calls I tried to make just ended. Same thing on my son’s phone and on an old phone I pulled out and tried to use.

  • truthceeker

I don’t know if anyone noticed in the Seattle area, but before the outage, if you peeked into your network settings, you would have seen the tethering option for 3.1.3 non-jb iPhones.

  • paul in kirkland

I live in Kirkland, and over the last 10d or so the service has been abysmal: dropped calls, direct to voicemail, no data network access, and my signal strength at my home has gone from full bars to one half of one bar.

My iPhone is basically a $75/mo iPod Touch at this point because I can’t use any part of AT&T’s network.
