I thought this was kind of interesting. Matt Casamassina, an editor over at IGN (with deep knowledge of all things Nintendo) has announced that he’s left his post to join Apple as their new global editorial games director for the App Store. For real. Here’s a snippet regarding the new gig from his blog:
Anybody who has read my work through the years will know that I’ve long been a huge Nintendo fan, but if there is one company that could entice me away from covering Mario and Zelda it’s the one owned by Steve Jobs. Beginning early May, I will join Apple as global editorial games manager, App Store. In a nutshell, I will be leading the charge for games on the App Store, so whether you browse through iTunes, iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, the games content you see will be handpicked and organized by me and my team. I couldn’t be happier.
Gotta give Apple a *tip of the cap* for hiring Matt… and to Matt, I wish you all the best at your new post. I sincerely hope the new position pays off not only for Apple, but for all of the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad-toting gamers around the globe. Quality games with intuitive controls, killer graphics, smooth gameplay and a realistic price tag is all I ask. Go get ’em Matt.
