Just as we expected, ABC has released an update of its Player application that will stream videos over wireless data networks.

The app gives you access to a variety of ABC’s shows on demand with some ads. The program is quite polished and it has a slick user interface. On the down sides, not all of the shows’ back catalogs are available and there’s some inconsistent orderings of shows. We’re still testing it out and will let you know how the video quality is over 3G but the WiFi version had some high-quality videos with cool features like high-speed scrubbing. While we work on a video of the 3G version, check out the demo below for a walk through of the app on a WiFi-only iPad.
