On top of their Social View plans released yesterday, Rogers is unveiling some new SMS options that are free for all customers. You can now set auto-reply texts for when you’re unavailable over extended periods of time, block irritating text senders, copy your incoming and outgoing texts to an e-mail address for later reference, forward incoming texts to another number, send texts to whole distribution lists, and add signatures. Wow, that’s a whole lot extra functions for zero added costs. No wonder it’s so extreme. To the max. Rad. Yeah.

You can check out the new features and how to get started with them at Rogers, or go ahead and hit up www.rogers.com/m/extremetext on your mobile browser to get started now.

In exploring RIM’s platform, he has learned what enterprises are looking for in mobility as well as what makes the innocuous BlackBerry so appealing to them. Recently Simon’s been covering RIM’s gradual move into an already-crowded consumer market, and the impact of burgeoning challengers, such as the iPhone, as well as long-time leaders, like Nokia, on BlackBerry’s advancement. With plenty of content under his belt, Simon will be branching off a bit to see what other smartphone manufacturers are working on while still using BlackBerry as a barometer.
