If the likes of Prada and Armani can do it, why would Versace be any different? I’m talking about launching its own mobile phone, and that’s exactly what the famous Italian fashion company did, as part of the Versace 2010 Collection.
The device, which we knew is in development ever since January, is called Unique and it’s both luxurious and feature rich. Let’s first talk about the specs.
LG helped Versace in the technology part, providing its touchscreen and interface expertise to earn the “Technology by LG” mark. Specs wise, the Versace Unique comes with a 3-inch WVGA touchscreen, HSPA and WiFi connectivity, 5-megapixel camera with flash, Bluetooth, media player that can take DivX and Xvid files, Dolby Mobile surround sound and so on.
All this is packed in a violet leather casing, embossed with a prominent Versace logo and a choice of either a 18k yellow gold finish or 316L grade stainless steel inlay. There’s also a large artificial sapphire coating on the display to prevent scratching and a high-tech ceramic or handmade lacquer face.
French ModeLabs assisted Versace in the design of the device.
As for the availability, the Unique will be released gradually in CIS, North America, Asia and Middle East beginning with Europe early next month and sold in major stores and high end department stores. The price will start at 5,000 EUR, which is super steep, yet somewhat expected…
