Get ready to root friends, as the myTouch 3G Slide is now ready to be tinkered with thanks to the hacker eugene373.

The process is a little complex so pay attention, as you first have to download this Slide Root file. Put this into the SDK directory, open the command prompt to the SDK/Tool Directoy and then power on your device by holding down the volume down and power button.

Type “Loop” in command prompt, select “recovery” from the menu choice once its loaded and you should then have an “Offline Device” to see. Unplug the USB and plug it back in for it to detect it correctly (the instructions say this is very important). Select “Update.zip” and don’t worry when it fails.

Use your Android debug bridge to push slideroot.zip and then have “command ready” in command prompt before you hit update again. Then, push update.zip/sdcard and once you hit update, you should be able to push that file over. At this point, you should be looking at ClockworkMod recovery and then go to partitions menu and mount the system. Hit back and select root zip file and this should finish the root.

After you reboot, it should be ready to rock and roll, and the developer said this is the same method for rooting the HTC Droid Incredible.

If you’re new to this game, you should know that rooting is not without risks but it does offer you more control over your device. You’ll be able to throw on custom ROMs for newer features as well as download apps that can’t make it into the Android Market for various reasons (like tethering). It’s not for the squeamish but you’d be surprised at how cool it is.

Well, we know some of our IntoMobile readers will do this, or already have. Let us know some of your tips and tricks in the comments, as well as your positive and negative results.
