Even though Samsung has still to find a carrier partner for its Bada-powered Wave smartphone, Amazon is offering the device for $440 unlocked. As you know from our ramblings in the past, the Wave is the first in the upcoming series of Bada handsets, rocking such features as a 1GHz CPU, 3.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera with flash and 720p HD video recording, WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS, microSD card slot and a whole lot more.

What’s stopping me (and I guess the rest of the world) from grabbing the Wave is the number of apps available. The Korean giant has a long way ahead to attract developers to make apps for the new platform. At the same time, they fight for the Android fans too, with the Galaxy S, which is arguably one of the most desirable smartphones on the market today.

I’m sure that in the coming weeks we’ll see some carriers jumping on the Bada bandwagon, but in the meantime if you’re in States, the only way to grab the Wave at the moment is to take the more expensive “unlocked, SIM free route.”
