For those overwhelmed with the flood of miniature mobile computers that can do a million-and-one things you don’t really need, there are still basic phones coming out. Verizon has just launched the Samsung Haven, which looks like it’ll handle all of the texting and calling you could need in a dated recognizable form factor.
In a lot of ways, it’s geared to be grandma’s first cell phone, as the keys are especially large and visible (and voice commands for when that’s not enough), there’s speed dialing to emergency responders, M4/T4 hearing aid compatibility, and it comes preloaded with health tools to keep track of medications, and demonstrate stretching routines. That being said, don’t expect a lot of features on here – it doesn’t even have a camera.
To pick up a Samsung Haven for $39.99 on a two-year contract, head on over to Verizon.
