We’ve almost missed this, but it’s important – hence we’re going with it, even if we’re late.
Cellular South has recently made the Android 2.1 update available for its HTC Hero users. As you know, version 2.1 is much better than its predecessor, packing such things as Google Maps Navigation, pitch-to-zoom capability, support for Yahoo! mail, improved battery life and so on. In addition, alongside the new version of Google’s mobile OS, the firmware update also packs the latest Sense UI, along with better corporate email support and several bug fixes.
You can grab the update from this page on CellularSouth’s website. Once you get the file, you’ll have to install it via microSD memory card.
As usual, we advise you to backup all your data prior to pushing any “Update” button. Your contacts, calendars and other stuff shouldn’t be affected, but you never know. It’s a good practice to keep your personal information on both your computer and smartphone…
