Verizon is making its very first Chinese made handset official: the ZTE Salute. Sure, it’s not as glitzy and glamorous as the Droid Incredible or the Droid X, but for those who don’t need all the bells and whistles of a smartphone, the Salute might be a decent ticket. The slider handset is very basic and doesn’t have a full QWERTY keyboard, so it’s clearly for users who just want to make phone calls, text messages and maybe a few extras here and there.

The ZTE Salute has a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, Verizon Navigator and access to Social Beat, Verizon’s social networking application. If you’re looking to grab a handset that isn’t so flashy and does the very few things you need like making calls and sending and receiving text messages, the ZTE Salute will only set you back $20 after a mail in rebate on a two year contract.

Did you even try this phone. The sound is distorted, it cuts out during calls and has poor ratings.
Goggle it and you’ll see what everyone is talking about. I was very disapointed with the two I got for my family and have two years to up grade – So sad ~  I’ve already sent away for a new replacement and Verizon is sending me a used one they already had to replace. The phone only came out last year.
