Hey DROID X owners, we realize that not everyone upgraded to Android 2.2 when it leaked this past week. Despite the allure of Froyo, the leaked ROM is still an untested, unofficial version that may not be stable enough for mission critical usage. Thanks to the DROID community, there is a simple mod for Android 2.1 users that may cheer you up.
To give you a little taste of the Android 2.2 goodness that is to come, chaluxdeluxe over at Android Central forums has assembled a custom lockscreen for Android 2.1 that makes your handset look like Froyo. No rooting, no flashing is required; you only have to download the apk file and install it to your handset.
Yes, it is not as exciting as running Android 2.2, but it still is fun to mix it up a bit while you wait for the official version to land in early September. Speaking of waiting, you may want to kill some time by checking out our head to head comparison of the DROID X and the Sprint HTC EVO 4G. Which one do you think will come out on top?
