We have heard rumblings of a North American CDMA variant of the Samsung Galaxy tab and now that model has been spotted in Verizon Wireless’ internal inventory list. The leaked screen grab fresh out of BGR reveals two entries for a Verizon Galaxy Tab. One is presumably for the Android tablet device itself and the other is for the demo units.
With an official launch right around the corner, the Samsung Galaxy Tab promises to be the showcase tablet this week at the upcoming IFA conference. The Android 2.2 device packs a 7-inch screen with 1GHz Hummingbird processor, 3G connectivity, and video calling. A strong competitor to the iPad, the Korean-made tablet may be joined by the rumored Motorola Android tablet in Verizon Wireless’ nascent list of mobile broadband-equipped tablets.
While AT&T basks in the glow of being the preferred carrier for both the iPhone and the iPad, Verizon is building a veritable army of Android devices to compete with Apple’s super-popular mobile devices. With the DROID Incredible, the DROID X, the DROID 2, the rumored Motorola tablet, and now this hot, new Samsung tablet, do you think Verizon has a fighting chance?
