If you’re in to design or engineering, then you know who Autodesk is and what AutoCAD is. The company is bringing the AutoCAD software back to the Mac OS platform and it is also offering access on the go with Apple iPhone and iPad apps.
This represents a return to the Apple platform after an 18 year absence and it is hitting the Mac platforms in a big way. The Apple iPhone and iPad apps will be called AutoCAD WS and it enables users to view, edit and share their files.
“Apple is thrilled that Autodesk is bringing AutoCAD back to the Mac and we think it’s the perfect combination for millions of design and engineering professionals,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “The AutoCAD WS app is a bold new idea, a mobile version of industry-leading design software for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, the world’s most innovative mobile devices.”
The apps themselves will be free but you’ll need to the full version to take advantage of it.
