As the official release of the Samsung Galaxy Tab nears, expect more of this right here: Why you need this from us, and not the other carriers. Verizon looks to be the first carrier to give potential customers the rundown of what the Galaxy Tab will offer.
The Galaxy Tab doesn’t differ too much from its cousin Galaxy S smartphones, but in some areas, like screen size and Android OS version, the Tab excels. Of course it would need to, but it’s not necessarily trying to compete with the Galaxy S, and surely Samsung want you to have both to compliment each other. Verizon’s top ten features rundown isn’t much different from what you’d find as the top features in a smartphone these days, but it does make sure that you’re kept up to speed as to what their newest addition will offer.
Of course, first on the list is Froyo, since it’s all the rage with Android users today. I say, “Give me Froyo or give me death,” but then again I’m sure I’ll be just fine with whatever OS version it’s running on once I have one of these bad boys in my hands. Froyo brings many new features, and at this point people wouldn’t really expect anything less than Android 2.2 (if they know what’s good for them) before considering an Android tablet. The document also boasts about the Tab’s roomy, yet still very portable 7 inch display.
Verizon also goes out of their way to tell potential buyers about the “exclusive applications” that you’ll be able to find on their version of the Galaxy Tab. Basically, expect a lot of bloatware on this thing, and all other version of the Tab, with the exception of the international version. Other things mentioned include the great web browser on board, it’s ability to be customized by the user, its dual cameras, and Flash support. But what’s number one? Verizon’s network, of course, and that comes as no surprise to us.
Would you consider grabbing the tab on a carrier that’s not the one you use for your phone carrier?
