Motorola’s Razr 70 Swarovski Edition is coming, and it’s going full crystal

Forget minimalist. Motorola is leaning into full-on sparkle mode with a new Swarovski crystal edition of the Razr 70, set to make its debut at IFA in Berlin in early September. And honestly? As far as fashion phone collaborations go, this one looks like it might actually work.

Motorola has confirmed the Razr 70 Swarovski Edition is coming, releasing teaser footage that shows the back of a Razr-style flip device covered in a diamond-patterned texture and Swarovski crystal detailing. Leaked renders that surfaced ahead of the announcement line up with the official look, showing extra crystals clustered below the external screen and wrapped around the hinge. It’s a lot, but it’s measured. The black colorway keeps things from tipping into costume jewelry territory, which is exactly the right call.

This is actually Motorola’s second time doing this. Last year’s Razr 60 Swarovski Edition came first, and by most accounts it was flashier and more maximalist. This new version tones it down a little. Same crystal DNA, less chaos. That’s probably smart if Motorola wants these phones to appeal to people who’d actually carry one daily and not just display it on a shelf.

So why does any of this matter? Because Motorola has been quietly building what it calls its “Brilliant Collection,” a strategy to position its foldables as fashion objects, not just tech products. In a market where flip phones from Samsung and Honor are fighting hard on specs and price, Motorola is betting that design partnerships and premium aesthetics can carve out a different kind of buyer. It’s less about megapixels and more about making a statement when you pull the phone out of your bag.

That approach isn’t crazy. The foldable phone market is still finding its identity. Most buyers who choose a flip phone over a standard slab are already making a style choice to some degree. Leaning into that with a Swarovski collab is a logical extension, not a gimmick, as long as the underlying phone holds up. The standard Razr 70 is a solid mid-to-upper-range flip, so the foundation is there.

What Motorola hasn’t shared yet: pricing and exact availability. Both are expected to come out at IFA 2026. There’s also speculation about special packaging, possibly a transparent case that puts the crystals on display. Given how much of the appeal here is visual, that would make sense.

Key things we know so far about the Razr 70 Swarovski Edition:

  • Crystal embellishments on the back cover, below the external screen, and around the hinge
  • Black colorway with a diamond-patterned texture
  • Part of Motorola’s Brilliant Collection fashion-focused lineup
  • Official debut at IFA 2026 in Berlin in early September
  • Pricing and availability details still to come

Whether you think bedazzled phones are brilliant or ridiculous probably says more about you than the product. But Motorola is clearly committed to this direction, and with two Swarovski collabs now in the books, it’s not just a one-off experiment. This is a real product strategy. We’ll find out in Berlin if the finished phone lives up to the teasers.
