TELUS HTC Hero Gets an Update to Android 2.1 Eclair

For the longest time, the TELUS HTC Hero remained one of my favourite Android-powered devices. Granted, I’m not deep into Android like some of the experts here at IntoMobile, but the Hero was my first ever venture into all-things-Google… and it was a pleasant experience.

Also for the longest time, Canadian Hero owners have been waiting ever so patiently for an upgrade to Android 2.1 Eclair. Well guess what? It’s available! Finally, TELUS and HTC have banged out 2.1 for the now discontinued device (the Hero disappeared from store shelves in September), and you can nab it right here.

The update will bring much goodness, including Google Maps Navigation (web-based turn-by-turn navigation, with voice guidance!), Multi-touch, a voice-dialer, and a heck of a lot more.

For all the details, pop over to HTC and look for the update titled ‘HTC Hero (TELUS) Eclair Rom Update.

Enjoy your Eclair, Canadian HTC Hero users!
