For as long as I can remember, gaming nerds have been hoping for a PlayStation phone. After all, Windows Phone 7 is appeasing Xbox users, and the iPhone has a number of excellent games. Now, it looks like PlayStation fans are going to get a little loving, too. What you see above, as the controller indicates, is the Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone.
From the looks of things, it’s running Android and the rumor is that it will be packing version 3.0, which is a rumor we’ve all heard before. Specs are as follows, according to Engadget:
The device snapped up top (and in our gallery below) is sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches.
Engadget also says that the image shows a prototype or device in the works, but it’s very much real. I sure hope that it does get refined over time, even if just aesthetically, over what’s shown above. And if it turns out to be a hot phone, which it’s poised to be, it will cement Sony Ericsson, at least for now, as a legitimate player in the game. I mean, let’s face it, the Xperia X10 was a flop.
