Samsung and AT&T unveiled a successor to the original Solstice feature phone, which was announced at the end of July last year. The new version of the device keeps the QWERTY side-slider form factor, making it another Quick Messaging device in the carrier’s portfolio. In addition, there’s a 3-inch WQVGA (240×400 pixels) touchscreen, 2-megapixel camera, 7.2Mbps HSDPA connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1 and a microSD memory card slot. In terms of supported services, the Solstice II can sing along AT&T Social Net, AT&T Navigator, AT&T Music and Radio, and there’s also the option to grab apps from AT&T AppCenter.
As expected with Samsung’s mid-range and above devices, TouchWIZ is running the show, offering users quick access to frequently used apps and popular social networking sites.
All this could be yours for 30 bucks ($29.99) with an appropriate contract. The release date is set at November 7th when the Solstice II should be available on AT&T’s website and across their retail locations nationwide.
