One of my favourite apps, Poynt, is now available for iPhone and Android users in Italy, France, Spain, and the UK. As a location-based search app, I’d imagine there are a different set of directories they would have to partner with to get working over there just like here in North America. I’m a little curious why their BlackBerry app hasn’t been included in the announcement, though… As it turns out, it’s because Poynt on BlackBerry is already Europe-friendly. Woo!

What makes Poynt so great? Well, a Google Maps search will do for some basic functions, but Poynt has tailored a handful of categories for some deeper functions. For example, you can search for movies playing nearby, watch the trailer on your phone, see the reviews from Rotten Tomatoes, order the tickets through the app, and get directions to the theatre. They have similar stuff for gas prices, restaurants, white, and yellow pages search. There’s even a cool augmented reality application here, so you can just point your phone’s camera somewhere and see all of your search results in that direction.

Europeans, hit up the download links below to download Poynt. Oh hey, it’s also on Windows Phone 7, if you’re on that bandwagon.
