Watch the iPhone, Android and Windows Phone 7 burn!

iPhone, Surround, G2 burned on a grill
iPhone, Surround, G2 burned on a grill

Oh man, talk about something that’s painful to watch. The folks over at EZ Grill have put together a viral video to show off its BBQ and it decided to do a torture test of the Apple iPhone 4, the HTC Surround and the T-Mobile G2.

This is painful for me because these are all excellent devices. The Apple iPhone 4 is the latest device from Apple and it features a gorgeous 3.5-inch Retina Display and a redesign which led to some antenna and case issues but it does look a lot sleeker. Apple can’t seem to make enough of these things, as the company shipped more than 14 million units last quarter.

The T-Mobile G2 is the followup to the world’s first Android phone and it definitely brings the heat (see what I did?). The stock Android 2.2 handset has a nice QWERTY keyboard that pops out in a scissor-like manner and it’s filled with all the high-end features you’d expect from this type of device including WiFi, a beefy camera and the ability to access T-Mobile’s 4G network.

The HTC Surround actually won this grilling endurance test and that should be a small feather in the cap of this new Windows Phone 7 smartphone. You may know that the Surround has a slide-out Yamaha speaker, 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel camera and all the trimmings you’d expect from a top-shelf smartphone.

Of course, this grill test may be the best part of the HTC Surround as our review wasn’t in love with the device.

The HTC Surround is a unique device that sports a good operating system that will only get better over time. Unfortunately, I think it will reside as a novel footnote in the history of smartphones and don’t see many people having a real need for this device.

THERE YOU GO! you can see it for yourself. Not rumors, hearsay or fiction – especially the numbers reported on WP 7sales – but this time you can see it real… that Windows Phone 7 is a superior product, in firmware and hardware. If only that guy can touch the WP7 phone, he can still make a call ! Really? well, the others are – say, well done?

All the fire and heat is around the center of the grill. Do it three more times with the other two phone in the center and I bet you would have a new result each time. While this is largely meaningless for the phones, it shows what an uneven and crappy grilling job this grill does.

    lol wow

Dude, Windows 7 is only the OS. The phone is manufactured by HTC. How does that make Windows 7 superior?

What a waste of resources and pollution of the environment to demonstrate what?

Something is fishy, because the batteries should have exploded and they never did. Nice try though!

Interesting…. only the iPhone posted a temperature warning and did a graceful shutdown.

That’s because iPhones can get that hot with normal use, lol.

Can I have a free iPhone4? If you have them to literally burn. I’d like one and I won’t even let it near fire. Thanks J.

You’re saying the heat is all concentrated around the center, but the phone in the center lasted the longest. I don’t think it really shows anything in regards to the grill doing a crappy job.
