A nice piece of smartphone just passed through the FCC from HTC and it sports CDMA support and WiMax. Could this be the HTC Knight/EVO Shift 4G that we’ve seen before?
The FCC details are very sparse, as it says that the device has support for CDMA, WiMax and is a “Smart phone.” That could mean a variety of things, but the likely money is on an Android-powered phone.
We’ve seen the HTC Knight before and there have been rumors that it will launch in the early January time frame. This FCC filing would sync up nicely with that launch window.
We’ve also heard that it will be branded the EVO Shift 4G because it will be like the EVO but sport a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. That could make some sense but you have to wonder how it would compete with Sprint’s Epic handset?
Anyways, there’s not much more to say about this at the moment but we’ll keep digging and let you know more about this WiMax-enabled handset as soon as we know more.
